My Approach: Work With Me
Step 1: Design Consultation
We start with a relaxed conversation to dive into your vision. It’s where I get to understand your lifestyle and the aesthetic you’re dreaming of for your home or business. By aligning on initial inspirations and project goals, we build a clear roadmap of the process and deliverables.
Step 2: The Questionnaire
This is a set of questions for you to answer. They are tailored to help you find a design style from a guide that I send to you. This is where I learn some of your likes and dislikes for specfic rooms such as bathrooms, kitchen and living rooms.
Step 3: Preliminary Design
Starting with a good foundation is key. This is where we coordinate site visits. We document existing drawings, site measurements & conditions. We meet with the contractors and Architects/ Engineers while reviewing their initial drawings. This is where the space planning begins and a design concept forms.
Step 4: Schematic Design
Integrating your feedback, we refine layouts and concepts to sharpen the design direction. I deliver mood boards, floor plans, and curated FF&E schedules.
Step 5: Design Development & Material Specification
At this stage, we refine your space with thoughtful furniture layouts, bespoke finishes, and integrated lighting plans. We get to go shopping! Through showroom visits and material selection, we curate every element to ensure a cohesive, functional, and beautiful environment.
Step 6: Final Shop Drawings & Order Placement
I finalize the Construction documents and Spec packages. Throughout this phase, I communicate lead times, and coordinate install schedules with the team. All furniture, tile, lighting, cabinetry and plumbing orders are placed. Any drawing revisions are finalized.
Sara is the Founder and Principal designer of Sara's Studio House, a New Jersey based design firm servicing New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Sara earned her degree from New York School of Interior Design, and has spent a decade working in New York City before taking the step of establishing her firm. Having worked for both an Architecture firm and on the supplier end, Sara specializes in creating bespoke residential spaces that blend timeless aesthetics with thoughtful, nuanced design solutions, resulting in personalized environments of style and sophistication.
